The Technological Development, Applications and Social Impact of Chatbots in the Modern Digital Environment

Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) has fundamentally transformed human-machine interaction. Chatbots have become one of the most widely used AI technologies, effectively supporting customer service, education, finance and healthcare processes. This paper reviews the technological development of chatbots, their types, their operation based on natural language processing, and examines their application through practical case studies. Special attention is paid to ethical, data security and cultural challenges, as well as future development directions. The paper builds on current scientific literature, with a special focus on the new possibilities of generative AI and large language models (LLMs).
