He discusses the theories about language and writing presented by many authours such as, Ferdinand de Saussure, Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Martin Heidegger, throughout the book. Derrida doesn’t merely criticises some of their theories, but he actually  asks for a new science that  called "grammatology" to investigate the issues he raises regarding how to theorise the act of writing.
